The Lettie Watson Home is listed on the New Mexico State Register of Historic Places, and also included in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing property within the Huning Highlands Historic District in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born November 26, 1881, Lettie Watson was one of the first residents of this beautiful brick Victorian home. Lettie and her mother, Louisa, moved in after construction was completed in 1908 just before the Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the last time. Lettie, a schoolteacher, married Isaac Mize, a meat cutter, who moved into the home in the mid-1910s. Although additional historic research is needed to determine exactly what happened to the Mize family and when, it appears that they lived in the home until Isaac passed away on July 7, 1939, and was laid to rest in the nearby Sunset Memorial Park. Although Louisa Watson was buried at Fairview Cemetery after her death in the home in 1928, her remains were relocated to Sunset Memorial Park in the early 1960s. Lettie lived until July 8, 1972, and was buried between Isaac and Louisa. A considerable amount of archival information has been obtained concerning the Mize family over the recent past. Much of it will be discussed at Blog Kabin Fever as it is discovered. Eventually, summaries will be included here. Lettie and Isaac had two children; Henrietta Mize McNutt and Walter. I have yet to determine if any of Isaac's children from a previous marriage ever lived at this location. Ongoing research will include:
